Mary Greenwood's book, Mary's new book, How To Mediate Like A Pro, has just been published. Her earlier book, How To Negotiate Like A Pro, has won six book awards. She  won the 2006 DIY Book Festival Prize for Best How To Book. She also was a Finalist in the in the Self-Help Category for the National Best Books 2007 Awards and a Finalist in the ForeWord Magazine Matazine 2007 Book of the Year Awards. She won two Runner-UP Awards from the New York Book Festival and  an Honorable Mention from the London Book Festival

For over twenty-five years, author Mary Greenwood, Author or How  has worked in careers that required expert negotiation. She has worked as an attorney, mediator, negotiator, coach, Law School Professor, and Human Resources Director.


As a Union Negotiator, she began to compile a list of rules that helped people resolve disputes. In How To Negotiate Like a Pro, she lists each rule and subsequently offers a concise explanation on how and when to use it in negotiations. She explains the emotional frame of mind needed for negotiations and reveals the preparations, strategies , and tactics required to close the deal. Telephone and on-line negotiations are also discussed.

Mary Greenwood has a BA in English from New School University and an MA in English from the University of Southern California. She earned a law degree from California Western School of Law and an LL.M (Masters Degree in Labor Law) from George Washington School of Law.

She has worked as Human Resources Director and Chief Union Negotiator for City of Miami Beach, City of Hollywood, Monroe County, and Keys Energy, Key West, Florida. She was County Attorney in Manatee County and Assistant County Attorney in Monroe County, Florida. She also worked as College Attorney at Colorado College, Winthrop University and University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She also was a Law Professor at Stetson Law School and St. Thomas Law School, teaching Labor Law and Employment Law.

She also conducts negotiation workshops for corporations such as Keys Energy Services and City of Miami Beach and organizations such as SHRM, ASTD and writers' groups.
